Known as Kodagu traditionally, Coorg is the anglicized name of the beautiful district found in Karnataka State in southern India. Occupying 4100 square kilometer on the Western Ghats of south-western Karnataka, it is referred to as the Scotland of India because of its vast and lush green terrain.

Coorg is also known for its rich wildlife and has three wildlife sanctuaries and one national park: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary, Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuaryand Nagarahole or Rajiv Gandhi National Park.
